The day centre for children in Rybnița, started its activities in October 2002, with the financial support of Caritas Sweden.

Starting with 2005, the project was implemented with the support of Caritas Vienne and ERSTE Foundation/ Komensky Fond.

Project goal: Prevention of school abandonment, social reintegration of children from vulnerable families in Rybnita, socialization of children from boarding schools and children whose parents are abroad.

Period of implementation: 2002 – present

Beneficiaries: children from vulnerable families aged 7-16 years old.

Methods of realization:

- Assistance in doing homework

- Computer classes

- Creative activities, tailoring workshop, handicrafts

- Psycho-social counselling, spiritual education

- First aid assistance

- Entertainment activities, excursions, sport contests

- Summer camp for children

- Providing children with hot meals

Achievements:

In 2013, Monthly, 30 children received a hot meal and support in doing their homework. 30 children were actively involved in computer classes (learning how to use various programs, preparing presentations, collages, creating videos, etc.)

In the workshops, the children made ​​Christmas wreaths; learned woodworking and how to craft small chopping boards for the kitchen, wood and glass candlesticks, greeting cards, Christmas mangers, etc. Pedagogues together with children organized seminars on various cognitive topics, such as ethics, aesthetics, the world around us, the world of animals, natural sciences, etc. Children together with pedagogues organized events: Mărţişor, Easter Traditions, Christmas Traditions, and participation in charitable events to mark the Resurrection, World Day for the sick, etc. For the first time, the children were invited to the “Way of the Cross” during Lent. The children were impressed and showed interest in organizing the same event next year. Invitations for these events were sent to representatives of the town hall in Balti, representatives of the Department of Social Protection of the family, Craftsmen Club, parents, grandparents, sisters, brothers and neighbours.  Together with non-governmental organizations in the city, we organized and participated in games in the park event “Andries” dedicated to International Children’s Day. For Easter holidays the children gave a multi-media presentation about the traditions associated with this holiday. During the summer, we organized a local summer camp, attended by both children from the centre, and children from the neighbourhood, and intercultural camp held in Ochakov, Ukraine.

In these summer camps, children had the opportunity to know their native land, with other children from other day centres ran by Caritas Moldova, through organized river excursions by boat.

Also, 9 children mutually shared national traditions and customs with children from Ukraine, as well as visiting many recreational activities, which excited them tremendously.
