Social activities of the Chisinau parish “Divine Providence” recommence in August 1991 when a group of parishioners on the appeal of Parish Priest Anton Cosa joined to distribute humanitarian aid received from charitable organizations and groups of Christians from different countries of Europe.
In 1993, following the proposal of the Sr. Gorety Velyvytte from Congregation of Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament, a group of parishioners was organized focusing its activities on care and home help to lonely, chronically ill parishioners. The same group took care of the cleaning in the Church. They were those who supported and helped the sisters of Divine Providence to serve the beneficiaries of the Cantina from the Social- Pastoral Centre “House of Providence” in Buiucani sector. The group of volunteers helped to conduct various charitable activities, summer holiday for children from socially vulnerable families in the summer camps.
During this period, the volunteer group submitted a proposal to “Caritas Moldova” to be trained by specialists in order to be able providing quality assistance at home for the elderly. The first seminar organized by Mrs. Anna-Maria Loonen contributed to the launching of a beautiful initiative that and later on was implemented as a sustainable and so much needed project in the field of medico-social assistance – “Home Care”.
In order to develop and coordinate the charitable initiatives in Chisinau, in 2001 the Catholic Charitable Organization “Caritas Chisinau” was created.
