1 Kg against poverty, solidarity on the tables of the vulnerable

1 Kg against poverty, solidarity on the tables of the vulnerable

This year, Caritas Moldova has been able to mobilize children, young people, teachers, volunteers, companies, and kind-hearted individuals who responded to our call to help support large families, elderly people living alone, people with visual impairments, refugees, and others in need.

Who joined the campaign?
We are delighted that educational institutions responded to the campaign with great openness and commitment, through Caritas Moldova volunteers who are students at these schools and their peers. They played an essential role in mobilizing their peers and in transforming a beautiful idea into a concrete act of solidarity:

  • College of Ecology
  • Center of Excellence in Economics and Finance
  • “Liviu Deleanu” Theoretical High School
  • “Litterarum” Theoretical High School
  • “Onisifor Ghibu” Theoretical High School
  • “Gh. Asachi” Theoretical High School
  • Center of Excellence in Construction

With the same dedication, the Caritas Moldova centers also got involved, where children learn every day what generosity, responsibility, and care for others mean:

  • “Gr. Vieru” Elementary School, Ștefan Vodă
  • “V. Harnaj” Middle School, Baimaclia
  • Popeasca Middle School
  • “Cireașa Veselă” Center, Orhei and Ungheni
  • “Speranța” Center, Ungheni
  • “Grow Up” Center, Rașcov
  • “Speranța” Center, Zîrnești

We also extend our heartfelt thanks to the companies that have stood by us through a long-standing partnership and by consistently placing their trust in Caritas Moldova’s initiatives:

  • Axint Management
  • TRIGOR AVD
  • Moldcell
  • International Women’s Club of Moldova

This initiative has once again demonstrated that corporate social responsibility can provide real and tangible support to vulnerable communities.

What results have we achieved together?
Thanks to everyone who donated and got involved, we were able to collect:

  • 19,900 MDL in monetary donations
  • 4 tons and 836 kg of food and hygiene products

These figures mean fuller tables, fewer worries, and the feeling that vulnerable people are not alone.

Where did the donations go?
The collected items have already reached beneficiaries in several localities and will continue to be distributed (until supplies run out). The first distributions, just in time for Easter, were made to:

  • large families in the Ialoveni district, in the towns of Horești, Bardar, and Pojăreni
  • blind or visually impaired people in Strășeni
  • lonely seniors participating in the SAFE project
  • refugees from Ukraine

In the coming days, aid will also reach beneficiaries in Căușeni.

Each distributed package carried with it care, attention, and the simple yet so important message that there are people in our community who choose to give.

A lesson in solidarity for children, young people, and the entire community

One of the most rewarding outcomes of the campaign was the involvement of children and young people. Through their participation, they learned that solidarity is not just a nice-sounding word, but a form of social responsibility. They saw how a small gesture can have a big impact and how good deeds are achieved through teamwork.

For Caritas Moldova, this is one of the most valuable outcomes: fostering a generation that is more attentive, more empathetic, and more open to the needs of those around them.

We thank everyone who made this initiative possible: the students, volunteers, teachers, coordinators, partner companies, and all those who donated and shared the campaign’s message. Through your involvement, we have turned the “1 Kg Against Poverty” campaign into a true lesson in solidarity.
