Christmas is traditionally a time of generosity and solidarity, and the "Dear Santa Caritas" campaign transforms this spirit into concrete action: providing food baskets to vulnerable families across the country.
Mobile teams - Santa Caritas' helpers
Caritas Moldova works nationwide through four mobile teams, which visit isolated rural communities, families at risk, and people living in difficult conditions on a daily basis. During the holiday season, these teams become Santa's true "helpers," delivering Christmas baskets to those in need of immediate support.
Each basket contains basic food items and non-perishable goods, enough to ensure a decent festive meal in homes where the joy of the holidays risks remaining just a dream.
How the community can contribute
The campaign is open from December 1-15 to anyone who wants to turn Christmas into a celebration of solidarity:
1. Donations of non-perishable goods
Anyone can donate basic food items—canned goods, pasta, rice, oil, flour, sugar, sweets—or hygiene products. These are collected, sorted, and included in baskets dedicated to families in need.
2. Financial contributions via www.caritas.md
Donors can also support the campaign online. Every donation goes exclusively towards preparing and distributing Christmas hampers. The Caritas Moldova team ensures that every donation is transformed into real support for a vulnerable family.
3. Involvement as a volunteer
You can join the mobile teams during the distribution of Christmas baskets (December 19-21).
4. Involvement by spreading the campaign message
Promoting the campaign in the community or on social media helps mobilize more people and multiplies the impact of solidarity.
