One of the basic functions in social service at home, by the nurses from the Caritas Moldova team, was to collect the clothes and underwear from the seniors, to wash and return the clothes of our elders from Stârcea. Unfortunately, the washing machine, which has been working continuously for the last 15 years, has broken down.

"For us, the washing machine was like a breath of fresh air" - says the coordinator of the SAFE project, implemented by Caritas Moldova with the support of Caritas Austria.

None of us is exempt from aging, pain, and hardship. Helping our seniors to live the age of old age with dignity is a duty that comes from our souls as Christians, sons and daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Seniors who receive socio-medical assistance from the SAFE project are over 65 years old, suffer from chronic diseases, some of them are immobilized in bed, no longer have anyone close to them and, in addition, they have no sources of income for survival. . These elderly people do not have the opportunity to lead a normal and dignified way of life due to the lack of essential products (food, hygiene, clothing) and the necessary equipment (orthopedic, for the most part, but also other minimum household equipment: stove, car). washing machine, tv).
