POETRY CONTEST

POETRY CONTEST

On March 21, as we celebrate World Poetry Day, we are launching an initiative that brings together creativity, emotion, and childhood: the Poetry Contest (original works), open to children from all Caritas Moldova centers.

Because we know that the most sincere verses come from the hearts of little ones, we invite children to turn their thoughts and feelings into poetry. This year’s theme is one that unites us all: FAMILY.

Whether it’s about mom, dad, brothers, sisters, grandparents, or even the “family” formed at the center or an imaginary family (why not, even the family of a hedgehog at the bottom of the garden 🦔), every child is encouraged to tell their story in verse.

Contest Rules

  • Children aged 7 to 12 from all Caritas Moldova centers are eligible to participate
  • Poems must be original works (submissions will be checked using plagiarism detection tools and AI-generated content detection tools)
  • Theme: FAMILY
  • Poems must be submitted in .doc (Word) format
  • The document must include:
  1. The author’s first and last name
  2. The center they represent
  3. The title of the poem
  • Entries should be sent to: comm.pr@caritas.md
  • Email subject: POETRY CONTEST

More than just a contest

The best poems will be selected and included in a Caritas Moldova poetry book, which will be launched on International Family Day, May 15—at which time the contest winners will also be announced.

Prizes

  • 1st Place – products with a value of 1,000 MDL
  • 2nd Place – products with a value of 800 MDL
  • 3rd Place – products with a value of 500 MDL

In addition, this year’s winners will have a special role: they will become the jury for the next edition. Essentially, we’re moving from “writing poetry” to “deciding which poetry inspires others” - an upgrade in responsibility, but also in trust.

A small step for a child, a big impact for their voice
Through this contest, we aim to offer children not only a space for expression, but also the confidence that their voice matters. Because sometimes, a few lines of verse can say more than a thousand words.

We eagerly await the poems that will bring this initiative to life.
