4 ani de solidaritate

4 ani de solidaritate

Today marks four years since the start of violent aggression against Ukraine, four years in which thousands of lives have been shattered, families have been torn apart, and millions of people have been forced to leave their homes in search of safety.

In the early days of the crisis, Caritas Moldova was on the front line at the border with Ukraine, providing immediate support to people in the process of displacement. Volunteers and staff responded promptly to urgent needs: water, food, basic necessities, information, and guidance.

Over the past four years, our intervention has continued, adapting to the realities on the ground and the changing needs of refugees and host communities. We have provided:

  • vouchers for food and essential items;
  • basic necessities;
  • legal support to clarify status and access rights;
  • psychological counseling for people affected by trauma and uncertainty.

We have been and remain alongside those who have been forced to leave their homes, friends, and part of their lives behind. Solidarity has no deadline. As long as our intervention is needed, we will continue to offer support.

Today, the Caritas Moldova team, led by its president, Fr. Petru Ciobanu, marked this moment with a prayer for peace in Ukraine and throughout the world. We united our thoughts for the victims, for the grieving families, and for all those who still live under the threat of conflict.

In the face of suffering, we choose to remain present.
In the face of fear, we choose solidarity.
In the face of war, we choose peace.
