Games, songs, cheerfulness – thanks to the project “Summer camps for children from Moldova” children’s energy filled with joy the courtyard of the Roman Catholic Parish “Saint Ana” in Ungheni.
Summer holidays with volunteers from France
Even from the beginning of the camp, from July 31 to August 10, 2017, children in the community had the opportunity to interact with 6 young people from France, volunteers of the AED Foundation – Aid to the Church in Need. The mission of young volunteers is to help the churches in need.
The volunteers have become friends with children from the locality and have been involved in organizing and conducting educational and fun activities at the camp, so French volunteers have managed to bring local people closer to the local parochial community.
In one of the evenings spent in the pergola in the churchyard, Fr. Krzysztof Plonka revealed to youngsters the secret of the icon-making technique on wood – impressively beautiful.
The last day of the visit of the French volunteers was full of emotions, after the early morning liturgy, Father Krzysztof Plonka thanked the volunteers for their visit and offered them a souvenir with the town of Ungheni. The volunteers also prepared a congratulation card, hand-made by them – the parent was very excited by the gesture of young people.
On their way to Chisinau, the last destination before taking off to France, the volunteers together with Caritas Moldova representatives visited Hâncu Monastery.
The children in the camp had the opportunity to go on excursions
During the summer camp, accompanied by their parents the children had the opportunity to discover new places in the country, they visited the Catholic Church from Orhei, the Orhei Vechi Monastery and Archaeological Complex and the Curchi Monastery.
The children were impressed by the places visited, for some of them was their first exit from the locality.
