Together with UNHCR and CRS, Caritas Moldova ensures the registration of beneficiaries, using the innovative PRIMES system to collect biodata, in accordance with government practice. Caritas Moldova also assumes some of the investments for these activities to take place.
Caritas Moldova programs are expanding quickly to meet the changing context and growing needs of the emergency, all the while upholding human dignity in its provision of care. Caritas Moldova has also hosted and supported the growing numbers of Caritas member organization partner staff arriving in the country.
As of now, more than 333.949 refugees have crossed into Moldova, nearly 90% of whom are women and children. Even if more than half of the refugee population arriving in Moldova plans to continue onward to the European Union, many of them, in the end, are staying. 97,057 Ukrainian citizens remained on the territory of the Republic of Moldova. His Excellency Mr. Kent D. Logsdon, US Ambassador to Moldova, honored us with the presence at the refugee center that Caritas Molodva, in partnership with Casa Providenței, Caritas Luxembourg, the Catholic Diocese of Chisinau and Catholic Relief Services, manages from the earliest hours of the crisis in Ukraine.
During the period from 15 to 17 March, Caritas Moldova conducted a training for volunteers providing psycho-emotional assistance. The meeting took place in 3 thematic days.
